Xeon Heatsink
Why does my heart stuck at 3 41C even at idle? (The rest goes to 25-30 at rest)?
So I just installed a Xeon X3370 in my server and put a good amount of Arctic Silver 5 on it. I have been monitoring the recent core temperature (idle and load) and it is as carrots 0, 1 and 2 are beautiful fluctuating, with about 25-30C idle and about 40C under load. EXCEPT: Core 3 is at idle and 41C under heavy load ... I looked thermal grease and it is still in all the ends of the CPU and the heatsink. What could be the problem? Help me! Thus, the last scenario is as follows: Cores 0, 1, 2 are 25-30C at idle, except that sticks Core 3 41C at idle. How to cope?
Apparently, 3 is the kernel assume any workload. Nothing is further from the truth. With multi-core processors, they do not all work the same way.
