What power supply will my computer take?
My old 400W power supply died so I replaced it with a brand new 450W one. The thing is now im hearing a crackling sound and the computer freezes. Should any power supply work or do motherboards have a limit as to how powerful the power supply can be ? The connections to the motherboard seem fine.
No, there's no such thing as a power supply being too high for a motherboard, it only provides what your components draw and the rating is simply the maximum it's capable of. It sounds like you might just have a defective or damaged psu.
