Passive Heatsink
my modem Internet keeps breaking ideas?
My home internet is provided by SBC Yahoo is an ADSL line to 3 Mbps to down with 512kbps up. I often download large files in the past the modem kept breaking down until I limit the download speed to 90 KB / sec. I think the chips inside the modem kept too warm and it would shut itself to protect itself? My guess was right when I opened the modem and measured the temperature of each chip with a large infrared sensor. I added a large northbridge heatsink (Thermaltake Spirit key 3) of the warmer and a small chip passive radiator for the next hot component. Now I can download up to 180 KB / sec, which is still less than the full 300 KB / sec or 3Mbps. I wondered what someone also experience this problem and what do I do now? I have the largest capacity thermal radiators on the modem, without spending more than a few dollars or really out of my how can I do to get the full 300 KB / s download speed from my ISP?
if it is really a problem of heating and u do not want to spend money and then use an external fan for the modem, a table fan will do.
