Edo Memory
Question on ram???
So my friend has given me a piece of hardware that i am assuming is RAM. He didn't tell me anything about it so could someone please fill me in....
I know its RAM because its a circuit board with 4 chips on each side in a row and on one of the chips it has bar code with the word memory on it. He gave it to me because i told him i needed more RAM to play my favourite game battlefield 2142.
On another chip it has the letter "16-EDO" on it which I’m hoping someone recognises. It also looks like it slots into something.
My question is....is it RAM, and if so will it work with my computer and how do you put it in. I also want to know if threes a risk of it being infected with some kind of virus or something.
I have a ADVENT T9208 computer is that helps.

The EDO seems to mean Extended Data Out, wich would be, form what i read, an old type of ram. I suggest you try buying something yourself that you know where it comes from.
Anyway you might buy ram one day if you want to play battlefied 
So here's how we do:
To put it in, you need to open your computer. Usually, theres a screw or two that you can take off easily. Then you'll have to find something that looks like that:

In this one there's 4 ram slots. There may be less or (if its possible) more. There should be one or more that are already used for the ram you already have. Then you just have to clip it in.
But there is different speed of ram and not all computer can handle anything. Try finding the specifications of your computer. You can probably find them in the "books" that came with your comp or on internet. Once you know what you need, find a electronic store (e.g. Best Buy) and ask for the speed you need.
From what i know, there can't be any viruses on ram. But if its damaged, it can damage your computer when you'll put it in.
