Please Help Me!! I cant get my computer's I/O devices and USB ports to work!?
Hello, i recently bought a barebones kit from your company, after it came in i assbemled everything, and wired the cables to the motherboard following the instructions, but when i try to turn on my computer, the coputer itself powers on along with the cpu/cpu cooler, and an LED lights up on the front panel indicating power on, cd drive opens/closes, but there is no display, none of the USB ports work, front or back, and the entire I/O backplane wont work, im not sure if it is the motherboard or PSU that is in fault, but i even tried to remove the RAM, but i still got no beep to indicate any error.
In such cases, I reduce the motherboard to the minimum essentials: CPU (with heatsink), motherboard power cables, on-off switch, and beeper (if it's not part of the motherboard).
Unplug everything else (including memory). With power unplugged, try putting the BIOS reset jumper into the reset position, then move it back to the usual "run" position. Also make sure that the CMOS battery is good (should measure about 3V typically) and inserted properly.
Then plug in the AC cable and try to turn it on. It should beep because there isn't any memory. Try turning the system off. If it turned off with a quick press of the power button, that's a good sign. If you have to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to turn it off, that's bad.
If it didn't beep, and you had to hold the power button down for several seconds to turn it off, then the problem can only be in the components you just used: power supply, motherboard, CPU, or possibly the motherboard BIOS chip. At this point, the only way to go forward is to swap in known good replacements for these items until things work.
Once you get the beep, then start adding components one at a time, testing after each one (and remembering to pull the AC power cord before adding anything new; also touch the metal chassis before handling any components to make sure you drain any static charges on your body).
