Backplane Cable
Why does my PC refuse to boot unless I remove the network(RJ45)cable or disconnect the ethernet switch first?
Have changed battery on motherboard, ethernet switch, re-earthed backplane, checked all connections and power switch.
Even changed the motherboard!
ShuttleX25 PC with Via C3, 512K, WinXP, 40GB HD, 1GB ADSL Broadband
This may sound real stange but have you tried to reboot with your virus protecter disabled, it may be reading the signal from your ethernet as a virus and that is why it refuses to allow you to go any further.
